In the sweet bye and bye

Our Elsie kitten, who was in her 18th year, was like a daughter to us.

She had a difficult winter this year...and I really wanted her to make summertime..but she could not, and my heart is heavy, for we lost her this week.
It did not come without pain and suffering. I still have some questions and anger over why this occurred. She needed not have to suffer, that was my hearts desire for the past 6 years since my beloved Micheal Madison Cat took ill and was in pain, till we finally took him to relief and rest.

I pray that I will be at peace soon...
as my heart is really aching and I can not press my husband for answers anymore...his heart hurts too.
She was his chosen kitten(though I was her mom).
He really wanted her home and I really wanted her not to suffer and the Vet tried to be hero.
All this to say...we loved her and she loved us back for so long. She lived with us here the entire time we've been in this home.

I am alone this weekend as My man is away at Army drill.... and I can't stand it without my Button girl.
So- I am spending the night with my other girl at the barn ,who was mistaken for "Button" at my first vet visit to her. Washsashe mare has the same "Pet" name sometimes as Elsie..."Button". I have always wanted to sleep in the barn with my horse, but my parents would never let me...now I may.

I used to listen to a favorite Pastor on the Christian radio..Steve Brown- Key Life. He was great and only spoke for 15 minute stints... totally power packed truth -stuff, that made you think deeply. IN fact, I now remember what he used to say-very wittily so,  at the end of his sermons;
"Now you think about that, Amen".
He had German shepherd dogs..they would make it into his sermons sometimes. He  often would make reference to them being in heaven, and that he would NOT want to go to a Heaven without all of them! He was serious!
I am serious too...I know Elsie and Mike are in our mansions, in the perfect place of rest, by the fire of course!

I found this Hymn , "Beyond the Sunset",written in 1936.
I will always be reminded of Elsie Button boo...As I ride in the sunsets~

Love you Kitten~

  17. How very sad. When we lose beloved pets, we realize anew how much a part of the fabric of our lives they were. I know you have many happy memories of your life with Elsie.

  18. I had to hug my kitty after reading your post. Along with the loss of your furry family member, I have found that when we lose one that has been with us a long time, it seems that it is a segment of our life that the door sort of closes on. And I have felt a bit of loss about that too. How blessed you were to have her in your life for so long. Hugs to your family

May you find comfort in your memories and those who love you. I have found this forum - petloss.com to be invaluable several times over the last few years. It is good for the times when the tears just won't stop.

  21. Oh, kc, I am so, so sorry for your loss.
I understand that a pet is like a child. All of ours are our kids.
Two years ago Feb. I lost my Siamese, named Maverick. He was 22 years old.I had him with me my whole adult life! All the years I worked in the horse business, he was with me. Farm to farm. He was the reason I did not take the job in England. He mattered more :)

Time does help. Give yourself some.
And know that pets do go to Heaven!
    She will be waiting...and purring.

    xo, misha

  30. Oh K...I didnt realize today when I talked to you that you were talking about her...you had me on speaker phone so it was hard to hear you and I was so full of emotion and wrapped up in dealing with my decision about this same thing with King that I didnt "hear" you...I feel so horrible....can you forgive me? Oh I know how your heart aches right now and the questions you have as to why she had to suffer. I too had a cat that my ex wouldnt let me put down and I watched her die a terrible death and I was so angry...I still am angry about that. He wouldnt watch but he did watch the TV and let me deal with it....I was the one who went out and dug her grave by myself...why did I even listen to the jerk...showed his true colors, you did notice the word "EX" didnt you? of course that wasnt the reason, BUT...anyway...I hurt with you tonight as we are aching for our beloved friends...and the choices we have to make on their behalf's...I do promise you I wont let that happen with My Boy...I'll listen to my heart...and I'll listen to him and what he tells me..King speaks to me in his way...we have a bond that no one else does so I'll let him tell me, not my Vet...I just have to make sure I'm hearing the right words without everyone else telling me what they think. Right now I've got so many people inputting their opinions its driving me nuts. People dont want to see reality it makes me sick..then their are those that want to dig his gave for me and I want to bash their heads in....I'm numb as you must feel...I wish I could hug you and make a pallet in the barn...I hope you did sleep in the barn, its good for your soul, I've done it and it was the best nights sleep I've had in years! If you didnt get to...DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. I'm so sorry for your loss, Kacy! 18 years is long life and I don't she would have wanted to spend a day of those years without you!

  32. Awwww Kacykins. I'm so very sorry. I'm also sorry for not reading this post sooner. I know how special your Elsie Button Boo is to you.

And I just realized as I was reading this post, that the previous post about the hitch I left a comment that might sound insensitive about 'Bless my Buttons". I didn't even know Elsie had passed on when I typed those words. Odd, though, isn't it?

It's not like I use that phrase all the time or at all, really.

Anyway, I'm very sorry for your loss, my friend.

And yes, go sleep in the barn with your believed mare, Wa. I slept in my neighbor friend's barn for over 2 weeks and I slept like a baby. Best sleep I've ever gotten actually. The sound of horses munching hay is very comforting.
