Thoughtful and Thankful
Something about today...my heart is thankful and it makes me thoughtful of my many blessings.
My mare's photo here also makes me thankful and thoughtful...she gives her all to me and carries me to such beautiful places, like up- and up- all sort of mountains...then we rest together and I can bring home treasure, like this shot!

The LION showed up
Oops...I wrote too soon of the lamb being present for us in the Pacific North West this March!
Was my mare ever shocked when this "snowballish" precipitation started to fall upon us. I had to pull her head up for the picture...she was nose- to- the- ground and all business on getting home again!~
I started my solo ride with the bottom half of this picture...bright blue skies with puffy white non-threatening ones hanging there... ..
the blackened- mad- upper half, occurred while I was not looking!

Like a lamb
March is said to, " Come in like a Lion and out like A Lamb". Sometimes because of the temps are lower in the beginning of the month and higher at the end... but mostly because of the constellations, Leo and Aries.

Unlike the saying, our daytime temps have pleasantly surprised us...by getting up to the 60's!
This sunny weather has been our beginning for March...So I headed out for New Territories again, with my "Must Ride Monday" partner. I rode Mustang Cazi.
Destination-Squaw Mountain~
Not too far from us, we trailered on up the mountain...about 2,000 ft mark.
We entered a gate, not unlike the ones around our area, across the Clackamas River.
Crossed a creek on a bridge this time...
There are many of them up in these mountains
We decided to go all the way up a clear cut ridge....up and up and up...
Till Wala...What A view!
See the little road in the middle there..that is what we drove up on~
Cazi man is very plump this winter...like me!
We just stayed up on the view point for the longest time...and ooued and awed...my friend sang a little tune that got me to laughing...I sang it when I was a girl, riding my pony around then towns. Karen Carpendar's, " I'm on Top Of The World".
Coming down we went a different route..there were so many new choices~
It was so pretty all lined with Alders with their white bark.
Now...the below is a picture story of how we mainly use a "FLASH Nose Band" ( to keep the horse from munching!)....though Simeon figured out how to use it to his advantage- while his girl remounted !
Position is everything....
Then...rip, got em...

The quickly suck them into your mouth!

Sunday Stills Numbers
For some reason, when I signed up this week's SS challenge on NUMBERS, I was a bit stumped with it. Until I walked out my door!!! Numbers appeared everywhere!
This was on our porch, inscribed on an Oil lamp
Walking to the car, I stepped on this to open the passenger side door...
the cover for the water main to our house~
From there , it was easy to find numbers. There were some on my stirrup leathers~
And more under the flap of my saddle, as I fitted the girth for my ride~
I really enjoyed this Treasure hunt day this time for Sunday Stills!

Anniversary of freedom
It has been a whole year since I moved the mare to my current Private Barn! The time, it has gone by quickly. Had a rough start in the weather department last year. We had the record for dump-age of the white stuff (everyone else in the country is getting it this time) in 30 years. It kept coming and coming on all the way through April, with the freezes and snows. Would not bother me normally, but I had no arena to work the mare in and it seemed like a setback ...at the time.
What I found out....is that the mare and myself needed a break/ relief from the rigors of boarding at a high profile barn that was full of self importance and deceit, to find ourselves again.
What we have found in the country, the mare and I, has been most beneficial for health and well being.
Lots of Reciprocity...
True Friends...
That God has picked for me...
Riding often and loving the horse together

Cleansing wounds and
Providing my heart a place to flourish and trust again...
My mare has been favored as well, with plenty of managed turn out...
GRASSY FIELDS-YEA!
GRASSY FIELDS-YEA!
She has been blessed with
Room to run...
Room to run...
Her own horsey friends to share special times with...
Flirting is part of that too....
It has truly been a year of new vistas, for me, and vast Horizons for the mare and I!
We crossed creeks

and Bridges

Climbed Mountains
Refreshed in Lakes

Sometimes we Lead

and other times, we Followed

The mare had room to be herself and to really be cared for and relax

We rode till dark
But usually, rode into the sunsets with treasured friends.

We would travel to different arenas and practice
All the while, we had each other, with the wonderful absence of barn politics and ill care.

We rather think that from a course of action from others, that caused such pain, we landed in God's arms here in the country!
A world of knowledge I have gained by this past year...and mainly:
My journey with my mare has not been a smooth one, yet; these side roads we have traveled...with hills, valleys and the occasional river to cross, have allowed us to tarry long enough to view much more, than if we took a straighter path. We may not have come this way by choice.
In the detour to the goals planned- reading the signs from my mare as my map, has become a joy. This journey has been far more enjoyable for me at the slower pace. My mare is responding to a different girl.
Having found the support from my friend and stable owner, the difference is huge for the riding and training journey with my mare!
Into the future we stride...but...we now take the time to venture to unknown places, and see what they may offer, if only beauty and comfort and rest~
This is ALLHORSESTUFF...all that is worth pursuing with your horse is the respectful, loving, journey together!
