A time for rest. . . . .

. . . .an that will be over tomorrow!
YIPPIE SKIPPY
The mare and I have had some fabulous rides out during short intervals of dry the past 10 days. We have had some record rainfall the first 6 days of June... normally, we get about an 1 inch and 1/2 of rain for maybe the entire month...well, last Sunday...we got that! And the first 6 days...3 inches!
THAT is soon to end...as Of tonight..I saw STARS!!! No, I did not hit my head...I looked out the window! Cool!
We leave for the beach tomorrow...it is supposed to hit the 80's in town..so we shall hopefully have 70's!

Okay...a very awesome note to end on here...riding for an hour today, I wanted to focus on transitions and leads for the canter. I decided to wear my Waterford bit. I have been bitless, for about a month with the mare, and I love it..so does she! But, I wanted to try something...and WOW...she was so cool..I wanted to do laterals back and forth, down the  graveled  service road.
She really gave me that bend around my leg towards the direction we went...WOW. AND..I was asking for a lateral canter to avoid a brushy tree...and I got a flying lead change- POP!
It is funny...everything I ask outside, I get easily..but put us in an arena..and I get explosions. It is like girthing the mare up...I go so slow..I massage the area firstly, and stretch her legs forward...If I take her outside...she does not even bat an ear...but if I stand in the tacking area...massive -evil- looks with threat of mouth!
I just think what we do, needs to be in the open- jumping, outdoor dressage, trails. She just reacts to enclosed anything.

Well, the mare will enjoy going to the beach with her friend Maddy mare..Maddy's mom of EQUINEMINE and I are planning a bitless/bareback saddle ride.. to start the wkend off right!

I look forward to THIS fabulous view...as I feed my mare tomorrow morn!

Have fun and catch you next week!

Here is the finished product- Recipe complete

For those of you that do not have this already installed, by the factory, on the horse trailer door.....

Here it is all assembled and mounted......

It's a door foot ( Or "Kick Stand")..for when one is loading alone and the wind is blowing the door on you and your horse..I hate that truly, this little gem keeps it all under control!

And....the unknown little ditty of a fact too...is when you are needing to go-go-go..and bad- bad- bad...
and the trailer is the only place...but the door won't stay shut, cause again...you are alone. You can close the door, put a foot on the bar..and privacy!

CONGRATULATIONS to Jocelyn and Star from "For the Love of A Horse" blog.
Funny thing is..I think we own the same trailer!

I had sooo much fun reading all your comments on what this could make...and I got some really great ideas too!

New Coin coming out + my equine version~

It is going to be neat to have Oregon on the coin...but they really should have consulted the Horse population...it could have looked similar to this Instead!
Giving equal viewing pleasure for the mountain, lake and Horse!

Gettin' Creative - Take a guess and win

Can anyone figure out what this recipe will make...when all put together?
HINT: it is something for the  horsetrailer~
Go ahead and try............

If anyone can correctly guess what it shall be( or get fairly close)....they will win something from the Wa mare and myself!
Guessing ends-soon with the posting of the actual finished product-

Sunday at the Stables Rained Out

Though my friend Jo and I had decided to not convene last Sunday...too blame rainy! I still went to see the mare...this is what I saw...a small window of blue and I quickly readied for the soggy ride out -to seek to see what had become of our trails!
I was hoping that my new socks with wings...would help to speed things up!

Small glimpse of the color BLUE

I LOVE having my EASYWALKER HORSESHOES on the mare's fronts! They are showing some wear but, she is still striding out nicely- which makes it nice to practice Dressage moves now.
I just boot up  the backs for the rocky roads...and when I get to a nice stump, (for remounting later) I remove  the boots / stash them / remount.

Poor Wa...look at that face!
Though it is good to be able to dismount and mount, out on the trail, and be able to handle your horse in many different situations....she's done that and is bored now!

I have to say,  the Wa mare is so good now...because she has been asked to do this so very MANY, many, many, times...she practically does it without out me asking...it is pretty cool!

The reason I take the time to unboot- simple answer- NO SLIDING- barefooted compared to booted.
Going out on these same trails booted...12 inch slides, with the hind ends! It is worth it to take this time and ensure a calm ride..she really is so much better now with out the boots!

OH!!! LOOK!

This creek was moving so fast and high...she just was amazed...so was I!

I actually got dizzy when we stopped in the middle of this creek! So I made the mare move on, rather quickly, instead of tarrying.

All in all, it was a very nice ride. I think the mare was happy to get out and about...since she has been kept in most the week. Turnouts are a bit too sloppy and we want to save the grass...let it rest.

Today, week 6...we again cancelled the Sunday meet. it's raining something fierce still!
BUT....Yesterday...there was HOPE in the form of sunshine!
OouLaLa!...now that I will have to write about it later!

Have a lovely weekend my friends!

What does one do when riding is not an option?

Imagine, working hard and  getting off in time for a ride- or anything you wish to do outside...but it is pouring out- and even on your days off.....it is pouring out..not cold mind you (Blessings still can be found) but so blame wet...there are creeks on the trails- that lead to the creeks!
So what do you do, when there is time on your hands, and you can't get out doors?
***YOU SHOP!!!!!

( Photo taken today in a brief bit of warm dry!)

Look what I found..it took less than a month.
I just looked at my Credit Union voucher for $ -It says ,
"This certificate good for 30 days from the date above". HAHA! No problem...I can handle that, and did! Got a sweet deal too...!
I no longer will have to rely on others to  haul my butt and my horses butt around! And when they change their mind or decide on doing something else...
I CAN STILL GO!!!
AND....this part is my favorite too>> I may pick up my friends to go places now...and return the favor that has been extended to me!

And..the other thing you do is:(when unable to get outside for the weather)
You PLAN for the times when you can get a way and ride in the warm dry sunsets!
